Die Hard 5 - A Good Day to Die Hard

I'm a big, big fan of the Die Hard films, so was looking forward to Brucie downing a few 'copters and he didn't disappoint in that department - not at all. But this time something was missing. 36 hours later I worked out what it was. Story was sacrificed for special effects, but it was more than that. John McClane in the other movies was a cop in the wrong place at the wrong time. No so in this one. The subplot of family (his son) swamps the main plot and he's almost gone looking for trouble, deliberately making things worse - just for effect. It's hard for me to identify with someone like that.
